Introduction to Meditation

 

 

A practical introduction to Yoga philosophy, this course offers numerous tools for empowerment and for improving the quality of everyday life. Learn techniques to develop a positive attitude toward life, gain mastery over negative habits and increase self esteem.   

Practice techniques to develop concentration, willpower and mind control—the keys to meditation.  Learn the power of thoughts, secrets of the subconscious mind, and how to establish a personal meditation practice.

Topics include the following:

  • The nature of thought
  • The nature of the Self according to Vedanta
  • How to deal with unwanted thoughts
  • Breaking negative thought patterns
  • Transforming negative emotions
  • Managing the stresses of daily life
  • How to turn obstacles to one's advantage

Achieve what you really want through Yoga and mind-control techniques. This leads on to the theory and practice of meditation (in Level 2).

This course offers many practical tools for empowering yourself, improving everyday life and achieving what you really want.

Positive Thinking and Meditation-Level 2 December 6 - December 27, 2015

Meditation is the key to achieving peace of mind in a stressful and competitive world, filled with endless temptations and "weapons of mass distraction."

You will be introduced to the Raja Yoga Sutras of Sage Patanjali and dynamic practical instructions will be given in mind control, concentration, classical meditation techniques and how to establish a personal meditation practice. Regular practice of meditation will enhance mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Positive Thinking and Meditation-Level 2 is offered as a 5-week course meeting once per week.

This course is a continuation of Positive Thinking and Meditation-Level 1, which is a prerequisite for attendance.

Positive Thinking and Meditation-Level 3 January 10 - January 31, 2016

We will explore the teachings on Meditation in the Bhagavad Gita, how we know we are progressing in meditation practice, the theory of mantra and science of sound, how to choose a mantra for meditation practice and the practice of japa.

Positive Thinking and Meditation-Level 3 is offered as a 5-week course meeting once per week.

This course is a continuation of Positive Thinking and Meditation-Level 2, which is a prerequisite for attendance.
