Our mission is to promote the spiritual science and ancient teachings of Yoga as a lifestyle for a modern audience. To teach the 5 points of yoga so that students connect with their divine nature and experience wholeness, love, joy, abundance, harmony and peace in their everyday busy lives.
Husband and wife team Eddie Robinson (Murali) and Lillian Butler (Lakita) have over 20 years of hands-on experience teaching healthy lifestyle practices based on a vegan raw/live food diet. They successfully owned and operated Raw Soul, vegan raw restaurant in New York City for 8 years teaching classes, catering to health food stores and providing good food to the community.
In 2011, they joined the Sivananda Organization after completing the Teacher’s Training Program. As staff they have the privilege of preparing raw and cooked food for more than 150 guests at the Yoga Camp in Val Morin and personal chef to the Acharya. They continue to teach raw food classes and chef training programs at Sivananda centers and ashrams throughout the world. They are trained in Macrobiotic, Ayurveda and raw food healing cuisines.
WHAT MAKES SIVANANDA HATHA YOGA CLASSES DIFFERENT?
The Sivananda Hatha Yoga Class is a 90-minute class consisting of initial relaxation (savasan), pranayama (breathing), warm up (sun salutations), 12 basic postures and variations, and final deep relaxation. Also, between two postures there are brief periods of relaxation. This is to allow the heartbeat to return to normal; lactic acid can be eliminated from the muscles, the prana can circulate freely, and the student can relax mentally. The student is ready to go on to the next posture when the breathing and heartbeat have returned to normal.
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, students receive step-by-step instructions, and postures are introduced and demonstrated gradually. The 12 basic postures are done in a sequence to allow students to benefit physically, psychically, mentally and spiritually.
