Divine Life Yoga Society (DLYS)

is a spiritual-based community, whose mission is to practice and promote traditional yoga as a lifestyle for modern society.  These teachings are based on the Five Points of Yoga—Proper Exercise, Proper Breathing, Proper Relaxation, Proper Diet And Positive Thinking and Meditation.

DLYS Cleansing Program is taught under Proper Diet.  It is a comprehensive 10-day program designed to take the body through all phases of cleansing:  preparation, juice feasting, ending the feast and maintenance.  When the body is resting from digestion, the mind becomes calm and we are able to hear the voice of our spirit and deepen our relationship with God.  Cleansing combined with conscious eating is the foundation for good health and wellness of the body, mind and spirit.  Meditation, yoga and massage are recommended during the program.

HOW THE CLEANSING PROGRAM WORKS

The program begins with a kick-off meeting on Monday, March 28th for 2 hours. During the initial meeting, we explore nutritional benefits of fruit and vegetables juices, water, and superfood elixirs to develop a cleansing regime that meets each individual’s health needs.  We will describe in detail all phases of the cleansing program and what it entails and what it does not.  Kriyas (cleansing techniques) including neti and enemas will also be introduced, discussed and instructions given.  Participants are highly encouraged to take enemas during all phases of the cleansing program.

Participants will be encouraged to set goals related to reasons for cleansing, what type of cleanse they want to undertake (regular or hypoglycemic), and what they want to accomplish during cleanse.  Once goals are set, we will assign cleansing partners for individual support.

After the initial meeting, the group meets on Thursday, March 31 for instructions and juice pickup, and on Sunday, April 3 for juice pickup and check-in.  The purpose of each meeting is to provide emotional support and address any issues that arise and answer questions.  On the last day of the program, April 7, the group will have dinner together.

PHASE I – PREPARATION (3 DAYS)

One must be mentally prepared to cleanse before any cleanse can be attempted.  Tuning the mind is necessary to develop the will power to overcome obstacles that arise during the cleansing process.

During Phase I, we eliminate meat, dairy, starches, fried foods, packaged foods, processed foods and junk food.  We will consume properly combined blended foods, seasonal steamed vegetables, fresh fruit, salads, sprouted seeds and vegetable sprouts to gently prepare the body for the cleanse.  Stop eating by 7:00 pm and resume eating in the morning.

Day 1 – Vegan cooked food, blended soups, broths, fresh raw salad, water, Rejuvelac, capsules

Day 2 – Blended cooked and raw vegan food, cooked vegetable broth, blended soups, smoothies, water, Rejuvelac, capsules

CAPSULES TAKEN DURING PHASE I, II AND II OF THE PROGRAM:

Spirulina provides essential nutritional support and cleansing.  Its high chlorophyll content helps remove toxins from the blood and boost the immune system.  It is 60% protein and amino acids including the essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA).  It contains Omega 3, 6 and 9s, and is an excellent source of vitamins, minerals (particularly calcium), and phytonutrients.  Spirulina strengthens the immune system, boosts energy levels, and supports cellular, cardiovascular, eye and brain health.

Activated Charcoal and Bentonite Clay acts as a sponge or magnet and absorb heavy metals and toxins that adhere to the surface of charcoal and clay.  This combination is effective for pulling toxic substances from the tissues and bloodstream, to be deposited and eliminated in the digestive tract.

Col-Clear capsules contain 10 active herbal ingredients, namely; aloe vera extract, barberry bark powder, cayenne powder, burdock root powder, dandelion root extract, fennel seed powder, ginger root powder, glucomannan powder, liquorice root extract, and rhubarb powder.  Col-Clear capsules dissolve mucoid matter and expel it from the digestive system.  They reduce gas in the stomach and intestines, purify the blood and stimulate and strengthen all organs, especially the heart, liver and organs of elimination.  They strengthen and heal the peristaltic action and the entire digestive system.

PHASE III – ENDING THE JUICE FEAST (2 DAYS)

Ending the juice feast is the most important part of the program.  Many benefits from cleansing can be diminished by improperly ending the juice feast.  We will end the juice feast with fresh applesauce.  For the first day we eat raw blended foods such as soups and smoothies, water, Rejuvelac and juice.  On the second day we continue with blended foods and add soft vegetables such as lettuce, cucumber, tomato, zucchini, and leafy greens prepared in their natural raw form.  Enjoy a raw food dinner prepared by Longevity Foods for the final meeting on April 7 at 7:00 pm.

PHASE IV – MAINTAINING A HEALTHY DIET

Once you have successfully completed your cleanse, you will experience increased energy, mental clarity, improved digestion and elimination, healthy weight loss and improved overall health and vitality.  Use this as an incentive to maintain a healthy eating plan.

Use your handbook as a guide--refer to meal plans and recipes.  Continue to have one juice a day.  Eat a salad with sprouts and a superfood drink once a day.  Drink plenty of water.  Enjoy an abundance of cruciferous vegetables such as bok choy, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage of all kinds, collards, cauliflower, daikon radish, kale, radish, turnip greens and root, and watercress.  These make up your core diet.

Balance your meals with fresh fruit, peas, lentils, pulses and beans, sprouted bread, seeds such as hemp, quinoa, flax, chia, and whole grains such as amaranth, barley, buckwheat, bulgur, millet, oats and spelt.

Eat less. Substitute plant-based proteins for animal proteins.   If you want to introduce meat and dairy back into your diet, do so slowly with smaller portions. For optimal health and healing, cleanse regularly with the change of seasons.

THOSE WHO SHOULD NOT CLEANSE

Anyone under 18, people with diabetes (especially those who require insulin), pregnant women, people with gastro esophageal reflux disorder (GERD), anyone with a chronic disease, those with anemia or anyone who has inexplicably lost weight recently.  It is a good idea to check with your healthcare practitioner before embarking on a cleanse.

The price of the cleansing program is $400.00 per person.
