BASIC  COURSE

4 weeks Mondays & Thursdays 7:00-8:30 pm.  Beginning October 22 through November 15, 2018.  Pre-registration required.

This course will give you a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of Yoga. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, students receive step-by-step instructions, and postures are introduced and demonstrated gradually to help you develop a yoga practice.

This stimulating yet relaxing class consists of initial relaxation, pranayama, warm-up (sun salutations), 12 basic postures and final deep relaxation.  Between two postures there are brief periods of relaxation to allow the heartbeat to return to normal, lactic acid to be eliminated from the muscles, the prana to circulate freely, and the student to relax mentally.  The student is ready to go on to the next posture when the breathing and heartbeat have returned to normal.

Sivananda Yoga is a systematic yoga practice combining physical postures with gentle work with our minds and emotions to go deep within to tune to the frequency of our souls. Come and try it for yourself, perhaps this is the style for you.
